Write a Short Summary From Each Article Chosen And Then Explain How You Might Apply The Context To Your Current Or Future Practice As An Advanced Nurse.
Data analysis is very much important to treat a patient (Cron, 2020). Data analysis is a process of systemicallyapplying logical and statistical techniques (Sharma, 2018). This type of course development which include application assignment and textbook assignment will develop a student to develop his analytical side. I think this type of assignment practice, synchronous laboratory sessions and video archiving where I can practice statistical tests on limited subset, will help me to develop skills for data-analysis regarding my future practice. As the session is archived one can attain the live session and can review it again for future purpose. This will be helpful to understand the concept and solve quarry regarding data-analysis. Also, it would help in practical laboratory-based work. Video archive can provide content before laboratory session to understand the statistical test. Also, a help session can be developed to address the problem in the video archive.
As per employment projection data 2014 released by Bureau of Labor statistics (BIS) shows that the workforce within the nursing profession will grow up to 16% from 2014 to 2024 (BIS, 2016). According to this data approximately 3.2 million of nursing job vacancies will be available in the United States (USA). However as per United States Registered nurse (RN) report card there is a spread of nursing shortage between 2009 and 2030, but many candidates are turned away from nursing schools. According to the AACN in the year of 2015 total 53648 applications, which are actually qualified are rejected from RN program due “lack of qualified faculty” and “insufficient preceptors”. To combat nursing shortage problem and problem mentioned above AACN develop Doctor of Nursing Practice Program (DNP). Proper academic knowledge and leadership skill among faculty, students and stuff can solve workforce related challenges. In the last decade enrolment in this DNP program increased in an exponential rate. In the year of 2014 this program increased by 26.2% (AACN, 2015). Schools are now hiring more DNP prepared faculty members (Oermann, Lynn & Agger, 2016). However, there is some role of ambiguity regarding this DNP program. This article talks about journey of three DNP graduates and their reflection throughout these journeys (Smith, Hallowell & Lloyd-Fitzgerald, 2018). According to them these process helped them to develop good communication skills, teamwork skills and leadership skills. As a healthcare provider proper communication with patient is very much important (Vermeir et al., 2015). They state that after doing their DNP program they are offered a leadership position. DNP essential II is important for Transition from clinicians to leadership role. According to Benner’s model framework (1982) this kind of advance nursing program is important. The only way to combat nursing shortage is properly implementation of DNPprogram. DNP prepared nurses are successful in their leadership role.
I find this article particularly useful for my practice. In this article 3 successful DNP nurses share their experiences. This will also motivate me for my future practice. I found from this article proper communication skill is very important to develop a good leadership role. A communication development course can be incorporated in the DNP curriculum. I will now try to focus to develop my communication skill for advanced nursing practice. Also, this kind of successful story will inspire an individual to be a DNP certified professional.
